When choosing a central air system for your home there are a lot of choices to consider. We can help you determine what size you need but you will have to decide what efficiency is best for you. This is referred to as SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) the higher the SEER the more efficient the system. Currently the minimum SEER rating allowed is 13 SEER. Most units installed before 2006 are 10 SEER or below and will continue to loose efficiency as they age.
Trane Central air systems are designed to last. One of the first thing you will notice when looking at a Trane condenser is the full sided louvered panels. This provides the ultimate protection for what is behind the panels and makes Trane condensers truly unique - a Spine Fin Coil. Most manufactures use exposed plate copper/aluminum fin coils. A Spine Fin Coil is all aluminum. This type of coil provides very low air flow resistance, and higher efficiencies. Think of it like a refrigerant line surrounded by aluminum pine needles. The coil is more resistant to corrosion and leaks than a traditional copper/aluminum coil, in fact most Spine Fin Coils have around 10 brazed joints compared to over 30 for most plate fin coils. The Spine Fin Coil has the lowest corrosion potential of ANY outdoor coil technology.
Another great thing about Trane is that they make their own compressors. Think of the compressor as the engine that powers the system. Trane Climatuff compressors are known in the industry for their durability. To read the story of Trane’s legendary compressor nicknamed Snowball click here. All central air units we install have a 10 parts warranty and the Xli models have a 12 year compressor warranty.
Xli 16 SEERThis central air system features high efficiency with two stage cooling. The compressor will run on a lower speed on moderately warm days and will use full capacity on hot days. This two stage feature will circulate the air in your home more providing greater comfort and saving you on your power bill. The Xli 16 SEER also has a weather guard top which makes the unit very quiet and keeps debris out of the inside of the unit. This central air system must be installed with a two stage furnace.

Xli15 SEERThe Xli 15 is a good choice for home owners who want high efficiency but are not concerned about two stage cooling. This system has the weather guard top which can withstand a 95 mph fast ball and many times we can install this to work with your existing furnace. The compressor has an insulating blanket to make this one of the quietest units around.

XR 15 SEERAlthough it is called the XR 15 it can have a SEER rating of up to 17. This unit does not have the weather guard top but is still an excellent choice for customers looking for a durable high efficiency system.

XR 14 SEERThe XR 14 is a great unit for our climate and may be our most popular system. It offers an efficiency above the minimum standard and is designed to provide reliable operation for years to come.

XR 13 SEERAlthough this is the minimum SEER rating for a central air system this is not a builders grade unit. It is a popular choice for home owners in Utah looking for a basic system with out sacrificing all of the quality features offered by Trane. These units have the smallest footprint of all the Trane condensers.

CoilsOften over looked is the indoor half of a central air system. This piece of equipment is called the evaporative coil or simply referred to as the coil. It is usually A shaped and sits above the furnace. While the central air system is running, the outdoor unit or condenser pumps refrigerant through the coil as the furnace fan blows air through it. Trane has the best coils in the industry. They are fully encased and insulated for maximum efficiency and sound insulation. Trane coils are all aluminum which does not corrode or rust. Most manufactures use copper and steel coils which are less expensive to make but do not provide the long lasting durability of an all aluminum coil. Trane coils use a Thermal Expansion Valve which constantly senses and meters the refrigerant for maximum efficiency.
